Sally
Daly of Charleville, North Cork, Ireland, is working
as a volunteer with a local NGO Organisation
E.M.A.C.E.
She is
working on specific projects for EMACE, making visits to the affected areas
and writing project proposals as well as liaising with other NGO's to deliver an
effective response to the disaster.
This website has been developed to support the fund raising activities and
to provide information relating to E.M.A.C.E. and progress being made on local
projects in Sri Lanka.
'During my time
in Sri Lanka, I hope to post regular situation updates to this website'. (See
Situation Updates)
The main fundraising event for EMACE took place on the 23rd January.
Thank you for all contributions received during the
fundraising walk & the charity auction that night. On that one day we
raised
€7200. The voluntary
support of so many people made the event possible, including Audrey, the
face painter, Jan, the stiltwalker, the string quartet from Macroom & Billy
Biggane, the auctioneer.
The support of family, friends, colleagues & community member generated
extraordinary goodwill on the day, added to by the glorious sunshine.
Since then a number of organisations/groups have contributed to
the fund (See 'Your Involvement').
We had
raised €18850.
